“Very pleased. Came here, and wanted to achieve something as a group in white ball. We were here last time and were beaten, I remember that. Not an easy place to come and win games.” said Sharma while concluding.

Will Arshdeep Singh be part of the India T20 World Cup Squad?

Arshdeep Singh T20 World Cup, Swing Bowler, Arshdeep Singh IPL 2022

Arshdeep Singh, The Indian left-arm fast bowler has managed to impress the cricketing world with his brilliant skills with the ball in the last three seasons of the Indian Premier League. He represented Punjab Kings in all the seasons that he featured in so far in the league. The left-hander has been a go-to fast bowling option for Punjab Kings in the last couple of years.

Arshdeep has a brilliant record so far in the IPL, which is considered to be the best and toughest T20 league in the world. He has managed to scalp 40 wickets in 37 IPL encounters that he featured in. The left-hander has an economy of 8.35 and average of 26.4, which is impressive for a bowler who bowls in the death overs.

He has bowled tough overs for the team and got the job done on most of the occasions.

The young gun received his maiden India call in the South Africa series. He was part of the 18-member Indian squad in the recently concluded home T20I series against South Africa, but did not feature in any of the games in the five-match series.

The 23-year-old quick made his debut in the Indian team in the recently concluded T20I series against England. He was part of the India’s playing 11 in the first encounter of the series. However, He had to miss out on remaining two games in the series as senior Indian bowlers made their return into the team.

“It’s just unfortunate he (Arshdeep) is not part of the two games because that sort of performance, going forward, with left-arm bowling as well as he did today and if he can build on that, he would certainly be an asset for the Indian team. So I am a bit surprised that he is not there but he has had a fantastic game,” said former Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar.

He was all set to play as India’s third pacer in the one day international series against England as well, but he did not feature in the initial two games of the series as he suffered an abdominal strain. He might get selected ahead of Prasidh Krishna in the only remaining game of the series, who had an unimpressive run in the first two games.

In the articles, We will have a look at what Arshdeep Singh will bring to the table if he makes it to the 15-member Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup and why having him in the squad will be exciting for the team as well as for the viewers. Here are the five reasons why Arshdeep Singh will be an exciting choice for the elite tournament in Australia.

5 Reasons Why Arshdeep Singh Will Be An Exciting Choice For The T20 World Cup 2022

1. Left arm pacer

Arshdeep Singh is one of the few left arm pacers in the country at the moment. He is certainly the best left-arm pacer in India at the moment as far as the shortest format is concerned. Being a left-hand fast bowler, He will definitely provide some variety in India’s pace attack. The pacer will certainly come handy while bowling against right hand batters.

The Indian team has been found wanting when it comes to the variety in the pace battery. India has failed to produce a prominent left-arm pace bowling option across formats in almost a decade now. Khaleel Ahmed and T Natarajan are the only noticeable left-arm fast bowlers who were given a go in India’s team, However, They failed to have an impact in the team and eventually were sidelined.

2. Death over specialist

Arshdeep has been undoubtedly the best death overs bowler along with right-arm pacer Harshal Patel in the last couple of seasons of the Indian Premier League. He has managed to keep some of the world class power hitters quiet, bowling at the backend of the innings. List includes the likes of Kieron Pollard, Andre Russel and multiple other known batsmen.

He has an economy of 8.35 so far in the history of the league, which is commendable considering that he bowls most of his overs in the death overs. The PBKS pacer has quite a few variations in his armory but his standout weapon has been the yorker. Most of the batsmen had no answers to Arshdeep’s yorkers.

3. Swing factor

The Southpaw showed his skills with the new ball in the recently concluded T20s against England. He managed to get the ball swinging in both the directions against the likes of Jason Roy and Jos Buttler. The star openers of England, who are familiar facing swing bowlers, looked uncomfortable while facing him.

The fans were surprised to see Arshdeep bowling with remarkable accuracy in the powerplay overs too. The spell against England with the new ball made it clear that the Southpaw is capable of displaying some serious skills with the new Kookaburra ball.

4. IPL experience

Arshdeep has played against some of the top batters in the world in the prominent Indian league. He is widely experienced in the league, having played 37 matches so far. The young pacer showed his temperament against top T20 batsmen from different teams.

What might go against the left armer is that he has minimal experience in the Indian domestic circuit. Arshdeep, Who represents Punjab in domestic cricket has been part of just 17 List ‘A’ games so far in his early career with no real experience with the red ball.

5. Helpful ground conditions

The defending champions Australia will host the World Cup. The grounds in Australia are considered to be the largest grounds in the World. The boundaries of grounds like Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Adelaide are more than 80 meters long, which makes the job difficult for the batters, especially those who believe in hitting a lot of sixes.

Arshdeep will certainly fancy bowling in the death overs in large grounds. It will provide him with relatively more margin of error while executive the yorkers in the death overs. The big ground dimensions in Australia will give extra confidence to the left hander while showcasing his skills with the old ball.

Arshdeep Singh was named in India’s squad for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against West Indies. He will certainly get opportunities to prove his mettle against the Windies batters, whilst few senior Indian pacers will be unavailable as part of the workload management policy. The fans expect the Southpaw to play most of the games of the Windies tour.

What Aakash Chopra said about the Indian Left Arm Pacer Arshdeep Singh?

“He has been playing regularly. He is a left-armer, nails the yorkers. He has got brains also. When you don’t have that much speed, you use your brains more. Experience counts for everything. Arshdeep, in my opinion, is a complete bowler” said former Indian batsman Aakash Chopra.

The Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid-led team management has given young players a long rope after they get picked in the side. Arshdeep also will certainly get multiple opportunities in upcoming games of India heading into the marquee ICC event which takes place in October-November window this year.

The PBKS pacer will be an exciting prospect for the Indian team and will remain in the scheme of things of the Indian team going forward. It will be a good headache to have for the five-member BCCI selection committee, provided the young gun keeps producing performances for the national side.
