This is a story of one such girl who chased her dream with a bat in this ‘Gentleman’s Game’ #ShaabashMithu. The Unheard Story Of Women In Blue will be in cinemas on 15th July 2022.” wrote Tapsee Pannu while announcing the trailer of the movie in one of her Instagram posts.

Here’s how Taapsee Pannu reacted to the trailer:

3. Early struggle

One of the most interesting and exciting aspects about the movie will be the display of Mithali Raj’s early struggle in her life, being a Women cricketer in India. The right-hand batter has revealed in multiple media interactions about the difficulties and challenges she faced in her early cricketing career. The legendary cricketer started to play cricket at the age of 10 & starting her career through school cricket.

The trailer includes some of the glimpses of her early struggles and challenges of starting a cricketing career as a young girl, the difficulties to make a career in a male-dominant sport. It includes the cricketer’s ambitions about taking Women’s cricket (Which was not in a great state) forward in the country.

4. Inside politics

The biggest controversy from Mithali Raj’s cricketing career remains the clash with coach Ramesh Pawar and Indian Women’s T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur. She accused the head coach of treating her unfairly and biassed team selection. The incident took place after she was dropped from the Semi Final of World Cup 2018 against England at West Indies.

The manager of Raj also came out to slam the skipper openly through one of her social media posts. The audience, especially those who follow cricket closely, is desperate to know if the controversial angle between Mithali Raj Ramesh Pawar and Harmanpreet Kaur will be included in the film or the makers will stay away from touching the sensitive topic.

5. Public response

In the end, it will all boil down to the box office collections of the movie. Considering the cricket craze in the country, the makers are hopeful of having a grand success. However, the film critics remain sceptical about the biopic, in terms of the box office collections.

Meanwhile, Paan Singh Tomar, Dangal, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Mary Kom and MS Dhoni – The untold story and Soorma rank high in the list of the best sporting bollywood documentaries and biopics (India) since the start of the last decade.
