The South African Cricket board has launched their new T20 league reportedly to be named as the CSA T20 league. The inaugural season of the highly-anticipated brand new league is set to take place in the first couple of months of the next year (2023).

The board claims that the league is set to be the next big thing in the world of cricketing leagues across the globe. Cricket South Africa have partnered with the local broadcasters namely SuperSport to run the marquee league. The league is expected to provide a big boost to the cricketing activities in South Africa. 

CSA T20 league or Mini-IPL? 

Meanwhile, The Graeme Smith-led Cricket South Africa has officially revealed the owner of each six teams of the CSA T20 challenge. The revelation on Wednesday (July 13) was followed after the bidding process which lasted for a couple of days. 

What comes as a surprising development is that the owners of the Indian Premier League’s franchises dominated the franchise auction of the CSA T20 league too. Each of the six franchises of the league are officially captured by the IPL franchise owners after successfully winning the bidding war.

The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team’s dream run on England tour concluded with an ODI series win with a margin of 2-1. They achieved a significant victory over Jos Buttler-led English unit in the series decider of the three-match series at Old Trafford, Manchester. 

Rishabh Pant, The Indian wicket-keeper and left-handed batsman was named the player of the match. He played an exceptional knock after the top order of India collapsed early. The Delhi-born batsman scored 125 off just 113 deliveries and remained unbeaten. 

It was a dominating display by the visitors as they got the better of the English team in both the limited-overs format series, while successfully drawing the red-ball series. It was an outing to forget for the hosts. However, The tour was a memorable one for the Sharma-led unit. 

“Very pleased. Came here, and wanted to achieve something as a group in white ball. We were here last time and were beaten, I remember that. Not an easy place to come and win games.” said Sharma while concluding.

Meanwhile, An interesting visual got trending from the Indian team’s celebration after winning the ODI series yesterday (July 17). The former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri was presented with a bottle of champagne by Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant.

The Indian wicket-keeper himself went on to hand over the bottle to the Mumbaikar, who was busy commenting on the post-match-show of the host broadcasters. He has been one of the star presenters with Sky Sports since the recently concluded Edgbaston test. 

Ravi Shastri was India’s head coach for multiple years before Rahul Dravid took over his role last year (2021 end). He has been part of the Indian dressing room since 2017 and indeed has a great bond with the Indian players, especially with the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli.
